Through my IPED experience, I have learned the value of interpersonal communication between healthcare providers. Many medical errors can be prevented through effective communication between healthcare team members. All members of the healthcare team must work together and share their information on each patient so that everyone remains on the same page when it comes to making decisions regarding patient care. Combining the medical, social, and nursing disciplines of the healthcare team members will improve patient outcomes ans enhance holistic, quality care. to I had the opportunity to interact with social work students, medical students, and pharmacy students. When we were assigned simulated patient scenarios at the IPED meetings, I found it interesting that each student brought a new perspective as to how to best care for the patient. The simulated patient exercises provided us time to practice how we will be collaborating with each other in the clinical setting as a team.
